Recycling of painted
PCR ELV plastics
Mechanical recycling redefined
LET’S GET STARTED
Fact check
Automotive. Recycling. A new challenge.
Innovation: Recycling of PCR ELV plastics

With the new EU ELV Regulation, mandatory recycling quotas for plastics in new vehicles come into force. For automotive manufacturers, this creates considerable pressure to act – not only in meeting regulatory requirements, but also in terms of the CO₂ balance across the entire life cycle.
Painted exterior components are particularly challenging. The paint impairs both the recyclability and the material and surface quality of the recovered plastics. High-grade recyclate has therefore been practically ruled out for use in visible areas.
The status quo shows that simple processes deliver only low-grade recyclates, which are unsuitable for high-grade applications such as automotive manufacturing. More complex processes can remove layers of paint, but they are energy- and chemical-intensive and therefore neither ecologically nor economically viable.

What is needed are technologies that take recycling to a new level: efficient, quality-assured and CO₂-optimised. Only then can the requirements of the regulation be understood not as a burden but as an opportunity – for industry, for climate protection and for a real circular economy.
Change is inevitable. The opportunity lies in rethinking.
INNOVATION
Processing of painted PCR ELV plastics
We have developed a novel process geared specifically to the high requirements of the automotive industry. What began as a research project is today a market-ready innovation:

- No use of solvents – sustainable material processing.

- Ensures reproducible results and high surface quality.

- Processed plastics can be used on the exterior of new vehicles.

- The process can be adapted to further materials and applications.

This is how we bridge research, industrial practice and the sustainability targets of the automotive sector.
Stable quality
Our material meets the high quality requirements of the automotive industry: flawless surface, excellent technical properties and suitability for visible and exterior areas.
Chemical-free
Our process works without the use of chemicals, is therefore particularly gentle on the environment and offers a sustainable alternative to previous technologies.
From research to innovation
Research became innovation: processed materials from old vehicles are technically and visually convincing and open up new, sustainable fields of application – in the automotive industry and other sectors.
Without research, quality is
chance – or marketing.
We don’t just
recycle - we
solve problems!
